In many examinations and admission procedures, the student is asked to write an essay on a given theme. However, there are also a few admission tests where the essay themes are not given in advance to the student. The applicant is himself asked to write an essay on a theme of his choice. Then, how does one choose the right essay theme to create a good impact and to write an effective essay? Let’s go through some tips.

Determine the purpose of the essay: Analyze what the purpose of the essay is. Is it to educate, persuade or entertain? Do you have to write about something that influenced you in life and with that inspire your reader? Or, do you have to write a persuasion essay? Decide on your topic based on this purpose.

Be comfortable with the topic: The next thing you need to bear in mind is that you have to be comfortable with the essay theme you choose. It may be a good idea to choose a topic that is current but if you are not well versed with it or do not have enough information to write about, it is highly unlikely that you will create an impact. So, choose a theme that you have enough knowledge about to write.

Avoid personal and controversial topics: You may be comfortable discussing your personal wins or even your romantic life. However, this may not be of enough interest to the reader! Similarly, controversial topics or hot political issues are best avoided. Inadvertently, you may end up hurting the reader’s sentiments or sounding biased.

Avoid very common topics: Very commonly discussed topics, such as ‘my favorite sport’ or ‘my biggest achievement in childhood’ may also end up being boring, monotonous and repetitive. Your evaluator or reader may have already read some hundreds of views on the same topics and will naturally lose interest.

Think about what can create an impact: Select topics that show your writing skills and also reveal a bit of your personality. For instance, you can talk about nature and how it inspires a human, or how you were motivated by a person who had lost a great deal in life, but later, bounced back to life.

Once you’ve selected your essay theme, plan the strategy well. How should the flow of the essay be? Is it an analytical essay or an explanatory essay? Which style of essay should you follow? Will an APA style essay be appropriate? Try answering all these questions before you start writing. Remember though that the essay theme probably holds more importance in this case because you’ve been asked to choose a theme yourself, and this can be a great way of proving to the reader that you know what you’re talking about.

Most of us know that the way to write an essay in the most basic format is to break it up into parts. The first part is the introduction to the essay, the next is the main body part and the final part is the conclusion. This is the basic essay format; however your essay length will depend on what your topic is and how many words you are supposed to write.

Your essay introduction will cover the major aspects of the essay, and your chance to make an impact on the reader begins with the introduction. In this paragraph, outline the subject of the essay, and describe the structure of the essay in brief. For instance, if your essay is about a historical event, you can mention how you divided your essay to cover all aspects of the historical event. Also, ensure that you state in the introduction what you hope to achieve at the end of the essay.

The body of the essay will cover the major portion of your writing. This can go on to two, three or as many paragraphs as your word limit allows. In the body, elaborate on what you mentioned in the introduction, give supporting evidence, facts and figures. If you have multiple instances or features to discuss and many examples to support them with, make sure that you divide each feature into a separate paragraph and discuss it at length. This will also assist in guaranteeing that the essay format is following the right and prescribed guidelines.

Your conclusion should reinstate your thesis statement that was outlined in the introduction and should be a summary of what you wanted to speak about and what inference you drew from your analysis. Try to restrict your conclusion to a few sentences because you’ve already discussed enough in your other paragraphs. After all, you don’t want your reader getting bored with your conclusion after enjoying the whole essay!

While the above is the basic essay format, when we come to formatting styles for academic writing, APA style of writing and MLA style of writing are the most commonly followed and adhered to styles. Harvard style of writing is also a popular style. All these styles differ in the styling of titles and headers, paper and font sizes, margins, page numbers, space allocation etc. In the Harvard style, the author’s name, the year, place and title of publication are required to be included. In the APA style, double spacing with a one inch margin is used and in the MLA essay format, the last name of the writer along with the page number makes up the heading.

Whatever be the essay format, remember that the most important thing is the content of your essay. However, following the right format is also important and having both, that is the right format and useful content will ensure that your essay is well written.

During these days of tough competition, school and college students need all the help they can get. Most entrance examinations and competitions require that the student writes admission essays on a given topic. This helps in their evaluation and scores. In fact, at times, the way the student writes the essay can clinch the admission in his or her favor. Therefore, it becomes very important that the student is able to write an impressive essay and able to prove his writing skills to the evaluator. However, not all students are equipped enough to score well in these essays. That’s when free sample essays come to the rescue.

There are scores of websites on the internet that offer writing services. Most of these websites charge a nominal fee for their services. You can research essay topics. Whenever a student needs help in writing a paper, he can avail the help of these professional custom writing services for a small fee. Sample essays can range from topics dealing with academics to hobbies, management, sports, art, culture etc. You will also find free sample essays on styles like how to write an essay using the APA style.

The free sample essays on these websites are undoubtedly the sole property of the website owners and cannot be copied or published anywhere else unless the website specifically mentions it online. They are meant to be a source of reference or guide for the student to understand the writing style that is required, the structure and other important aspects of essay writing. Reading through these essays will also give the student enough exposure to the various types of writing and the correct format that is required to be followed in a piece of writing.

However, one must be wary of websites that are not genuine. Because online writing has also become a means of making money, some websites resort to malpractice, copying techniques, plagiarism and other devious methods to just fill up content. By reading the content on a website, one can usually make out if it is of premium quality and original. Therefore, pay extra attention to research and find out if the website service you’re utilizing is genuine or fake.

The dictionary defines symbolism as ‘the use of certain figures or marks of identification to signify a religious meaning or faith.’ The most common example that comes to mind is the cross that signifies Christ or Christianity. A symbolism essay is one that elaborates on the use of symbols in any piece of writing or literature. For instance, you can write an essay to elaborate on the usage of symbols in the works of Charles Dickens, D.H. Lawrence, Virginia Woolf etc. Alternatively, you can write an essay that uses symbols heavily to prove your case in point. Let’s go through some aspects of writing a symbolism essay.

It is one of the most interesting types of writing because it discusses elaborately on the usage of symbols. Sometimes, it represents an idea in a symbolic form.

A symbol can be an object or a person that represents something else. However, in literature, symbols are more complex and can be interpreted in a variety of ways. Therefore, as a writer of a symbolism essay, it becomes your responsibility to identify and enumerate the different types of interpretations.

The beginning of your essay should focus on identifying the symbols that are used in the given piece of literature that is being evaluated. If there is no evaluation being done, but a new topic is being discussed, outline the symbols that you will be using in the beginning paragraphs.

Next, discuss what you think of the usage of these symbols and the reasons these symbols were included by the writer.

Proceed to talk about why the symbols are important and what impact they have on the article or story. In some ways, symbolism essays are similar to analytical essays because of the amount of text analysis that goes into the body of the essay.

To write a good symbolism essay, you should also be familiar with the usage of symbols in the past. Therefore, a good reading of history and literature is highly recommended. You can also research essay topics to see how symbols were used earlier and what the economic, social and political conditions were during the times these symbols were used. This will give you a fair idea of why people resorted to using symbols and why they became so much a part of literature. After all, literature is the study of man. If you need additional help in writing a symbolism essay, don’t hesitate to order or buy an essay from our professional custom writing services.

A classification essay is an essay in which one organizes things into categories and then provides examples for each category. The entire structure of the classification essay is built around these categories. For instance, if you were to write an essay about traveling, you could classify the subject into different objectives of travel such as sight-seeing, information seeking, family vacations etc. In the introduction to your essay itself, begin with a thesis statement describing the number of types a particular thing can be classified into according to its properties. For instance, if we were to take the traveling example, your thesis statement can be something like: ‘People travel for different reasons during the year. Some seek pleasure, some go for sightseeing; some others also travel to gather information.’

In the subsequent paragraphs, define each type or elaborate more on the classification types. Dedicate each paragraph of the body of the essay to each category example. Explain more about what each type includes, substantiate with examples, and present similarities or differences between the various types. Remember, in a classification essay, it is important to organize or sort into categories using a single type of classification or principle, and give enough examples for each type, so that the reader does not get confused between different categories.

If you’re not given a topic before hand, you have ample of time to research essay topics and choose one that you’re comfortable with in sorting and organizing. But, if you’re given a topic, analyze the subject thoroughly, explore the details and sort or classify according to a certain principle that you decide upon. Ensure that you stick to the principle throughout your classification. Do not make your classification essay very lengthy or cumbersome by including many categories. This may again confuse the reader. A standard number is three, so that the essay length is also not so much that it becomes monotonous.

The theme of your essay should be fully covered with these categories. Your essay should be written such that you do not need to devote another paragraph to describe the theme separately. Therefore, in a classification essay, the emphasis should be on description and illustrations. The essay type can use any of the usual formats like MLA style or APA style of writing. In conclusion, make sure that you include a summary of all the categories you analyzed and reiterate the thesis statement.

While writing your term paper, if you’re asked to write an essay on leadership, how will you begin? Will you define leadership from the Oxford Dictionary, will you begin by referring to your favorite leader’s qualities or will you outline the general characteristics that you think will make a leader? Well, if you are in doubt, please know that it is fine to begin the essay with any of the above methods. The important aspect to keep in mind is that you’re describing a quality and you should supplement it with ample examples, references and if possible, quotes. The introduction to your essay is obviously the place to hold and capture your reader’s attention, so make sure whatever you write makes the reader curious enough to read through the entire essay.

Also, remember that writing a leadership essay encompasses many different aspects – like leadership styles, leadership development, types of leadership, successful leadership, leadership principles and values etc. Before beginning your essay, make a draft about what aspect you want to highlight upon. Your prescribed essay length should help you decide how much you can include and how many aspects you can briefly allude to.

Leadership is not just about commanding people, but it is also about following them, and listening to them. One does not always have to be a commander, a chief or a boss to be a great leader. A great leader can also be one who has total command and control over his life, his words, his deeds and actions, and who helps others help themselves. There are lots of great qualities in a leader that you can choose from and elaborate on them with examples. For instance, 10 great leadership qualities that most people agree should be present in a leader are:

Empathy

Dedication

Sincerity

Passionate about his beliefs

Puts people’s interests above his own

Responsibility and ownership

Self motivated

Ability to influence

Ability to lead

Ability to teach

An effective leader can be humble and strong at the same time, teach and learn at the same time, give credit to his followers and command respect at the same time. To be prepared on writing a leadership essay, you can also read biography essays of great leaders. You can also build up your knowledge by reading on different leadership strategies and how they affected people in various stages in life.

To make your leadership essay more interesting, also try to compare two very different kinds of leaders and provide an analysis of what made them successful or unsuccessful as leaders. Remember to conclude your essay with a statement on what you learned from the lives of great leaders.

Almost the first thing that comes to our mind when we think of a night essay is ‘Twelfth Night’ by Shakespeare, and undoubtedly, the most interesting aspect of this play is the incredible use of disguise. The play in itself is a comedy and the disguise is instrumental in making the plot comical, interesting and fascinating. The disguise and changing of genders results in a number of humorous situations and causes many misunderstandings between characters and even leads to love.

The main cause for all the confusion is Viola, who disguises as a man when her ship sinks, and approaches the Duke of Illyria, Orsino, to get closer to him and maybe even woo and win his love. However, the irony is when Orsino asks Viola, now disguised as a man, to approach his lady love, Olivia and woo her on his behalf. The comical situation that arises when Olivia falls in love with Viola thinking that she is a man is both absorbing and amusing. However, all is not lost for Olivia because Viola’s twin brother Sebastian is alive and all is well when Olivia and Sebastian are ready to be married. Similarly, the other couple, Orsino and Viola also agrees to marry each other towards the end of the play. The other important character in the play is Sir Toby Belch, a merry character and Olivia’s uncle, who also is the cause of much confusion and jest in the play.

The case of mistaken identity and disguise form the crux of the play. Shakespeare has often used disguise as a means to make his plots interesting and fascinating. Of course, one point to keep in mind is that in Shakespearean days, only men were allowed to participate in plays and therefore they played the parts of both sexes.

The plot, characters, settings, comedy, imagery etc., are so beautiful in ‘Twelfth Night’ that one could choose any one aspect of the essay to elaborate, analyze and evaluate and still write anywhere between 250 word and 1000 word essays. At times, topics are also chosen from the play and the student is asked to present an argumentation essay while drawing parallels to the essay and present day modern circumstances. For instance, the reason why Viola chose to disguise herself as a man was to be able to secure employment with the Duke and to be able to protect herself in a male dominated society. A likely question from this situation would be how the student compares the situation a few centuries ago to the situation that women face in a male dominated society in modern days.

Writing an essay on sports is probably one of the most versatile topics you can find. There are so many different ways that a topic like this can be laid out. Depending on essay length you could have some fun with this paper. No matter if you are writing an mla or apa style essay or which format you choose to use, sports is something that allows you plenty of material to write about.

First, you need to decide what type of “sports” you want to write about. A few questions you need to ask yourself would be:

Will this essay be historical in nature?

Will it be about sports figures or heroes?

Is the focus primarily confined to one or more sports?

Will the approach be on endurance and stamina for sports?

Will it be about your personal experiences?

Is it going to focus on minor level or professional level sports?

One angle a person could take when writing an essay on sports is choosing to create a biography essay on a sport legend. These are not only interesting but many people are suckers for trivia. Be sure to add some stats and facts that are generally not known. This will definitely add to the intrigue and allure of the essay tone.

Essay length will probably play a large role in the angle the writer takes. For short essays one of the above would suffice. If however, the essay needs to be two or more pages long writing an essay on sports that would cover all of the above is likely the smart choice. Each one of the above mentioned angles has a wealth of information. This can help the reader to avoid getting overwhelmed in research problems.

Sports almanacs, sports magazines, online resources, sports channels (on television or radio) and the like are fun and interesting ways to obtain valuable data. Listing the sources on your citation page will look as though you did a lot of research but in reality they were merely used for tid-bits of informational statistics as well as current news.

Taking time with the topic is essential. Some people may get excited and want to ramble on about their favorite aspect of the topic but it is imperative that the essay be organized. Avoid rambling, repetitive wording or sentences and be sure to be accurate! There are many people that love sports and pride themselves on their personal knowledge. So, in short, make sure that all of your facts are just that, facts. Cite them as often as you can in your essay. Above all, have fun with it!

If the writer has to create a lengthy essay on sports they could include many things. From sections on various sports to the greatest sports players of all time the possibilities are endless. For anyone that loves sports and has a passion for it, this topic is a great way to show your knowledge as well as your writing skills.

Life and death are both surrounded by rituals. As long as mankind has walked the earth, there have been both societal and religious factors involving death. To write an essay on death, it’s best to start with what you know and expand from there.

Most people have lost a friend or loved one and seen death from the angle of tragedy, sorrow and loss. The irreversible absence of someone is a hard thing to deal with. Religion and the promise of resurrection takes some of the pain away, but there is still an empty place where someone once lived.

The Pharos of ancient Egypt began their reign by planning for their own deaths by building pyramids as their monuments. Their mummification techniques did, indeed, give them a semblance of immortality. Thousands of years after their deaths, we can see their faces and hear their names, not to mention viewing the treasures they took to their graves.

During times of plagues, death became so common that the bodies of the dead were carted off to mass graves and burned to prevent the spread of disease. Native Americans often built funeral pyres and burned their deceased to prevent them from being eaten by wild animals. Vikings sent their dead to sea on flaming ships.

Traditions and cultures determine the treatment of the dead and information can be found in any library concerning specific details. Depending on the essay length you need, the interesting facts can help build a long or short essay on death.

For information concerning how modern society handles death and dying, a very good resource is a local mortuary. Most funeral directors are happy to answer questions and even give tours of their facilities.

Cemeteries are also interesting places to visit if you’re writing an essay on death. Older cemeteries can be especially fascinating. The history of a town or an area is all right there, on the headstones!

Most cities and towns have hospices that care for dying patients. Hospice workers can be informative when it comes to the care of those who are about to die and how people react to knowing they are about to lose a loved one. Professionals who deal with death and dying may have insights that you can’t find anywhere else, too.

Since religious beliefs are intertwined with issues of life and death, your pastor (or any church leader) would be able to discuss rituals, traditions and faith on the subject.

Depending on the perspective and the length of your essay on death, there is plenty of available information to cover every aspect, whether historical, societal, psychological or religious. Perhaps the most difficult is how many different aspects you have to choose from and how many of them you want to use. An essay on death really allows freedom with the angles the writer can take. If you buy an essay it is important to point out the point of view you wish to take and whether or not you want an apa or mla style essay.

Death, as well as life, involves many complicated areas. Forensics is one more possibility to include in an essay on death. The techniques for solving murders is a fascinating subject all by itself. Information on finding murder victims and solving the mystery of who they were or how they died (not to mention who was responsible!) can be found on any number of television programs.

Human rights is an important issue these days. It’s not often that there isn’t something on the news concerning the rights of some individual or group. If you look closely at the charges or suspicions that are being reported, you’ll see many similarities. Usually, in the USA , the subject is Civil Rights as opposed to basic Human Rights. Civil Rights generally involve one religious, racial or ethnic group and it is seldom a matter of life and death these days. Human Rights, on the other hand, encompasses a much wider range of possibilities. Therefore, a Human Rights essay is a great topic to tackle.

Human Rights violations can be anything from the genocide in Rwanda to religious discord that leads to imprisonment. To write analytical essays in an effective manner on the subject of Human Rights, most of the research can be done via magazines, newspapers and television news programs. The examples are numerous and extend all over the world.

Tienemen Square leaps to mind as an excellent example of human rights being violated on a large scale. Chinese students were protesting for more freedom from the Communist Government of China. Their rights were ignored and the Chinese Army killed and injured the unarmed protesters.

As previously mentioned, the genocide in Rwanda is known all over the world as one of the most egregious examples of Human Rights violations. Men, women and children are starved, beaten and even killed because of who they are, not any crime they have committed. This can be a gripping angle to take when creating a Human Rights essay.

In many cultures, women are the victims of Human Rights abuses. Chief among these are the Muslim countries where women and even young girls are killed for any number of infractions of Shariah Law. Honor killings are considered acceptable if a female refuses to obey her father or husband. Forced marriages are also common. An explanatory essay can really bring the situations to life.

Political rulers around the world also violate the Human Rights of those under their control. Imprisonment and execution are common practices in China , Cuba and North Korea when citizens object to being ruled with harsh laws and no rights of their own. Too often people are killed while trying to escape unjust regimes. This type of historically geared Human Rights essay can capture your reader but be careful that you do not bore them with only listed facts. Instead, make a factual yet attractive essay by adding intense situations that place the reader right in the middle of the emotional scenarios.

People living in free countries consider their Human Rights to be like those in the American Bill of Rights. Our Constitutional rights include Life, Liberty , and the Pursuit of Happiness as stated in the Declaration of Independence. We have the right to practice whatever religion we choose (or none at all), the right to carry weapons, the right to speak freely, to assemble peacefully, and many others. To violate these rights is to violate Civil Rights. Human Rights are just a little different.

To write a Human Rights essay, you’ll need to explore what Human Rights really are. The right to live is, of course, the first and foremost right. Dignity and basic respect are also important. Being punished for religion, politics, ethnicity and gender are violations. Whether it is a biography essay regarding a specific individual and their life story or an essay about a certain culture or place, this topic is sure to have an impact on the reader.
