Often these days, we hear someone say “It isn’t all about you!” Well here’s one time when it is. A narrative essay is written by you, in the first person, and therefore it is all about you! If you want to know how to write a narrative essay, you have to start with what you think about the subject you’ve chosen. The entire essay should be your thoughts about something, so it helps to select a subject that you’re familiar with or have strong feelings about. Usually a person can create this type of a paper without having to research essay topics because they have in mind an interesting concept that they wish to express.

When you research essay topics, or you are assigned to write a Julius Caesar essay, the first question should be, “The real Julius Caesar or the Shakespeare play?” If it’s a biography essay on the actual man, himself, there is an abundance of information about him, starting with his birth in the first century B.C. On the other hand, if your essay is about the Shakespearean play, there is a great deal you can write about and analyze. It compares well to modern politics, although with less bloodshed.

It wouldn’t be difficult to write a George Orwell essay. Seriously, there has been plenty written about him and by him. It’s easy to look him up on Wikipedia and discover that his real name was Eric Arthur Blair. He was born in England in 1903 and died in 1950 of tuberculosis. His books and magazine articles and essays are available in libraries and on the internet. It should be simple to write the same essay that a hundred other people have written about George Orwell. Or you could write about the stunning differences in his political views and why they changed so dramatically.

The Great Gatsby might be considered something of an essay in its own right. It was written in 1925 and the story was set in 1922. Those were rather wild and prosperous days, the Roaring Twenties. This book, by F. Scott Fitzgerald, tells the story of the people that made the Twenties roar. The good and bad sides of the coin reveal a view of human nature that has always been there, just better hidden in some eras than in others. To write Great Gatsby essays, it isn’t hard to picture the people and their circumstances as they would be in the modern world. Writing analytical essays is a great way to portray the story. Some students however, would much rather just buy an essay instead of creating one about this story.

If you want to write a Death of a Salesman essay, the first thing to consider is what approach you want to take. The writing of it? Then do your research on Arthur Miller and his 1949 play. Study his techniques of flashbacks and how he implemented them. His use of Willy Lomans memories and past encounters was very effective by itself. The effect was amplified by having the “real time” characters use doors while the “memory characters” seemed to walk through them, much like ghosts haunting Loman. The actors, when from mixed times in Willy Loman’s life, seemed not to be aware of one another as the audience sees and hears through the lead character’s tortured mind. There are several techniques, used by both the author and the performers (not to mention directors) that give the play a haunting quality.

When students pick “the crucible” to write on in college it generally has to do with the interesting play about the Salem witch trials written by Arthur Miller. This was an interesting piece of art that has been popular throughout the decades. But that is not all that comes with the word “crucible”. Today, let’s look at two absolutely different crucible essays that can be written.

Respect is an interesting subject. Does one earn respect, or is it something that comes along naturally? Actually, it can be either one or even both. To write an essay on respect, you might want to decide which type of respect to discuss. No matter what you choose there is plenty of material in life to provide ample essay length.
